Now is that time of year when all the princesses are gearing up for their weekend in WDW! That’s right…the Princess Half Marathon weekend is almost upon us! Major congrats to everyone who ran during WDW Marathon and Star Wars weekend recently. It’s been fun watching you all blow up my social media with updates and pictures. It’s definitely the motivation I need to get going again.
Since the MCM, I’ve fallen off the wagon with my running hardcore. I am nowhere near the mileage or motivation level that I was at this time last year. I think I’m tricking myself into thinking, “I can do 26.2, so 19.3 is cheese!” I am going to regret thinking that unless I start NOW. And “now” meaning right when I finish typing this post.
I still need to get my plane tickets and find a place to stay. Everything is SO expensive… (if any runner needs a roomie, let me know and I’ll be happy to pay my share!). Yay for planning!
I cannot believe this has become a tradition for me. This is my third PHM and second GSC. Although…with the way the prices keep rising, I’m not sure how much longer I can continue to run Disney. That, and I’m going to be moving and (hopefully) starting a new job in May after I graduate. I haven’t scheduled any additional races so far this year because of this. I know wherever I end up will have races of sorts.
One month to go. Let’s get it done, princesses (and princes)!
^^That’s pretty much how today went.^^
2015 hasn’t been too bad of a start. Today took the cake though. After being blasted by snow from this Alberta Clipper that’s hovering over NWPA at the moment, I came outside to realize that my car was buried, and I couldn’t get my car out of the parking lot. even after digging for many minutes. I had an interview at 11. Womp womp. I called and rescheduled for later in the evening, and took the day to be lazy and chill while talking to friends and looking up Disney thingies on Pinterest. I went back out later to attempt o get my car out, and I am now counting the days until I leave the snowbelt area (119!); I had never been so frustrated with the lack of snow removal around here. Usually everyone’s on top of that, but today…of all days…yep. My interview was held at our local bagel shop, to which I am a frequent customer. It’s also my favorite haunt to go do work or just chill out in a comfy atmosphere. I was offered the job on the spot, and I begin my bagel adventures on Sunday! And this is a runner’s dream come true, too. It’s the Land of Carbs!
On top of landing a job, I also received two recommendation letters that I had requested earlier in the week from two extraordinary professors whom I’ve worked with for the last decade or so in the music department. See, I’m planning on running for Kappa Kappa Psi national council, and part of the materials packet includes three rec letters. Well, needless to say, I read these and became a puddle of emotion. It’s AMAZING what the feedback can be from those with whom you’ve worked with for so long.
Yep. Good day indeed.
