I’m Going Back!

I’m officially crazy.

I was offered a transfer spot for the 40th Marine Corps Marathon this October.

Naturally, I pondered over accepting it. I haven’t run any legitimate distance in a loooong time. I would have about seven weeks to train. 26.2 miles…yeah.

But I was reminded of something amazing by a great friend: Money is fluid. Adventures are not.

So I said yes.

Marathon #2 = October 25th in Washington D.C.!

  1. I think this is great! I can’t believe you got a transfer spot though. I thought they were hard to come by. Hey, aren’t you more relaxed going into it this time though? You know all the logistical details and all the difficult points of the course! I know that’s going to help me this time! I am personally dreading miles 3-13. I don’t know why but I did a lot of my mental failure in that stretch.

    1. I can’t believe it, either! The spot came from a friend of a friend who thought I might like it. I was bummed I didn’t get chosen from the lottery, so this is quite a thing. I think I’ll be a little more relaxed this time around; I know what the course will be like. Anything after Mile 20 is where the mental aspect kicks in, and if the weather was anything like it was last year, it’ll be tough. Finding/making friends on the course saved me last year!

Speaking of friends, I hope we can find each other in D.C.! It would be wonderful to meet you finally! ā¤

      1. Ha! After mile 20 I had zero mental capacity. I was a zombie and barely knew my own name. But yeah, hit me up when you get to the city (email link in my profile pic I think). I guess I should be making plans about when to go to the expo and what I’m doing race morning. Eek! I forever go into this race winging it on every aspect.
